Hull and East Yorkshire Conferences, in partnership with Visit England and the De Vere Village Urban Resort in Hull, hosted an Afternoon Tea reception at the Ludwig Museum in Cologne last week (31 January).
The event was attended by 20 people, including representatives from several associations and MICE organisations. Billed as “a chance to see a corner of England as never before”, the event took advantage of the fact that David Hockney’s: A Bigger Picture Exhibition has been on show at the museum from 26 October 2012 to 3 February 2013.
As well as viewing the landscapes of Hull and East Yorkshire, there was also an opportunity for attendees to find out more about holding conferences and events in the area.
“This event gave us the opportunity to show key conference and meeting buyers in Germany exactly why Hull and East Yorkshire is such a great place to hold their events,” says Business Tourism Sales Officer for Visit Hull and East Yorkshire, Ellie Garmston. “And it obviously helped to have Hockney’s landscapes of the region as a dramatic backdrop for this event.”
In the past two years, Hull, East Yorkshire and the Humber Region has seen delegates from 41 countries attend a range of conferences. Possible developments in the future include new hotels and a purpose built conference centre.
