Members from the national associations which make up the European Federation of the Associations of Professional Conference Organisers (EFAPCO) have accepted the bid and invitation from OPC Spain and the city of Malaga, for the association’s 6th Congress and General Assembly. The conference will take place in the southern Spanish destination on 17-18 January, 2014.
EFAPCO President Luisa Ahrens Teixeira said: “Work has already begun on planning what promises to be two days of intensive conference and workshop sessions. We will be working closely with OPC Espana to make sure we develop a programme which will prove attractive to all of our 14 member associations, and to those new member associations which we hope to help form in other non-member countries in Europe.
“We will also be extending an invitation to leading PCOs in non-member countries to join us and discover the benefits they could gain from forming their own national associations and becoming part of our highly progressive European network.”
The programme will include analysis on progress made during 2013 on the formation of the Federation’s European Observatory. Its three pillars, dedicated to Education, Economy and National Organisation, are being formulated by specialist working groups. There will also be programme of elements developed by local association OPC Espana.
The Congress is due to take place in Malaga’s Trade Fair and Convention Centre.
EFAPCO met for its 5th Congress and General Assembly last month in Prague and claimed it now represented 1,450 PCO professionals active in the meetings industry and in 14 national association members.
EFAPCO is a non-profit institution headquartered in Brussels.
