Corinthian Terrace spirit from Keith Prowse at The Kia Oval

Official hospitality provider Keith Prowse is to add the new Corinthian Roof Terrace to its inventory at the Kia Oval in south London from March 2013.

The £250,000 development, undertaken by Oval Events, the joint venture between The Kia Oval and Compass Group UK & Ireland – Keith Prowse’s parent company, will create a new events and hospitality space on top of the ground’s OCS Stand.

Keith Prowse is promising grazing menus, a DJ booth for post-match parties and stylised seating areas for hospitality clients.

Taking its name from the popular phrase ‘Corinthian Spirit’ – meaning sportsmanship, the Corinthian Roof Terrace aims embody the ground’s heritage of fair play and its place as host to English sport’s most revered occasions; the first rugby international in England and the inaugural FA Cup final between Wanderers and Royal Engineers were both played at the venue in 1872.

The Kia Oval is also synonymous with The Ashes – cricket’s most coveted prize; after England lost to Australia in 1882 the bails from the match were burned and stored in an urn, which then became the fabled trophy still played for by both sides today.

Prices for the Corinthian Roof Terrace package are considerably more modern, however, starting at £349 + VAT per person.

Andrew Hodgkins, MD of Keith Prowse, added: “We’re pleased to be launching such a remarkable hospitality and event space ahead of the eagerly anticipated Ashes Test Series. The Corinthian Roof Terrace benefits from spectacular views across London and unrivalled views of the cricket. It’s crucial to our business that we continue to enhance our offering to meet the expectations of our hospitality customers, and we look forward to welcoming guests once the redevelopment is complete.”
