Ashby-based catering company Wilson Vale has secured a three-year contract worth £1.5m at College Court Conference Centre at the University of Leicester.
The new 123-bed conference centre is due to open on 1 October 2013, when a team of 13 Wilson Vale staff will commence a breakfast, lunch, dinner and hospitality service for delegates and visitors, as well as catering for other events.
Formerly a hall of residence, College Hall has seen a £14m investment by the University of Leicester to transform it into a residential conference venue. Once open, it will be the first time in the University’s history that an all-year round conference facility will be available.
“The main building is Grade II listed, designed by the famous 1960s architects, Sir Leslie Martin and Trevor Dannatt, so we will be echoing in our food offer quirky ’60s ideas to reflect the culture and heritage of the building,” says Co-founder and MD of Wilson Vale, Andrew Wilson.
Steven Crawford, Conference Centre Director, adds: “The centre will play an important role in supporting the strategic aims of the University, and, in the challenging times that we all work in, will provide a new income stream and return. We have already taken academic bookings for 2014 and our plan is to take additional bookings, such as weddings and other celebrations, to supplement conferences and provide a valuable asset for community use.”
