The Source Skills Academy in Rotherham, a venue with business and conference facilities used by local and national companies and public sector agencies, is helping the BBC’s Young Apprentice complete her studies.
Seventeen-year-old Ashleigh Porter-Exley, a Business Administration Apprentice at Martin & Co in Rotherham, was chosen by Lord Sugar, and is now working towards her qualification with the help of The Source.
After being crowned the winner of The Young Apprentice and winning a £25,000 prize, Ashleigh is set to invest her winnings in setting up her own property management or financial consultancy business.
She has been working with The Source since early 2012 and says: “The last 12 months have been completely life changing. I was winner of the Young Apprentice and I’m progressing through my qualification really well. The Source has been fantastic throughout the whole process. My Assessor was totally supportive, encouraging me and helping me believe I could do it. I am lucky enough to have received some great feedback following my experience on the show, and I am so excited about how The Source will support me even further in my career.”
Mike Denby, Head of Employer Engagement at The Source, said: “Ashleigh is a fantastic example of an individual who is willing to work hard to develop her skills and grow her career. Her experience on the show has been out of this world, and she is an inspiration to other young people who are looking for work and not sure which path to choose.”
The Source is spread across three sites across South Yorkshire and was established as a charity in 2003.
