International brand experience agency Jack Morton Worldwide supplied the creative hands behind The Mayor of London’s New Year’s Eve Firework Display in the city. It was the ninth successive year the agency had been involved.
The global showcase event was seen by millions of people on TV and live by over 100,000 people lining the banks of the River Thames.
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “What an amazing end to an incredible year. London has proved, yet again, that it can pull off spectacular world-class events in style.”
The music soundtrack to which the display was choreographed was curated by Jack Morton’s Creative Director, David Zolkwer (pictured) and produced in collaboration with Nik Goodman and Dan McGrath at Bounce.
The soundtrack was designed to be very much ‘of London’ and featured music significant to 2012 including tracks and artists which featured in the Olympic and Paralympic opening and closing ceremonies and the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
The soundtrack included ‘soundbite’ quotes from The Queen and key personalities of 2012 including Lord Coe, Mayor Boris Johnson and PM David Cameron.
Jim Donald, Executive Producer, Jack Morton Worldwide, said: “It has been our great honour to work with a very talented team to create this iconic and spectacular event for the past nine years. This year is particularly special in that we have been able to both open and close what has been a truly extraordinary year for London and the United Kingdom.”
Zolkwer said: “Our goal was ‘simply’ to create an experience that captured the many emotional highs of an inspiring year that gave us all so much of which to be proud.”
As well as working closely with the Mayor’s Office, Jack Morton Worldwide worked in conjunction with multiple organisations across the capital to deliver the event. These included: Metropolitan Police, Westminster City and Lambeth Borough Councils, Transport for London, The Port of London Authority and London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade.
