Hilton Worldwide has signed a franchise agreement with Martinez Hotels and Resorts to bring its DoubleTree by Hilton brand to Ireland.
The deal will see Dublin’s Morrison Hotel reopen as The Morrison Dublin, a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in early February, following a €7m refurbishment.
Centrally located on the banks of the River Liffey, the 138-room hotel will feature a 24-hour business zone. Events space totalling 410sqm will be available with capacities for two to 240 guests. The hotel will also feature two restaurants and a split level fitness centre.
“We’ve been eager to secure the right opportunity in Ireland, and believe we’ve found it in The Morrison,” says Senior VP, Development, Europe and Africa at Hilton Worldwide, Patrick Fitzgibbon. “This deal is also indicative of a renewed buoyancy in the Irish hospitality market, visible both in the strong performance of our existing portfolio and the confidence of owners and developers to invest.”
Hilton Worldwide currently operates four hotels in the Republic of Ireland, all located in the capital city of Dublin. Since opening its first European hotel in 2008, DoubleTree by Hilton has almost 60 properties trading or under development across the region.
