Excel London has announced its third major management promotion this week, with the news that James Rees, Director of Conferences and Events at the capital’s largest venue, has been promoted to Executive Director, effective 1 January 2013.
David Pegler, who was promoted to CEO from Managing Director, effective on the same date, said: “This is a well deserved promotion. James has been at Excel for 10 years and has been instrumental in transforming the conference and events division into the success it is today.”
Pegle radded: “His contribution to the business also reflects our ambitions within the meetings market place to help London become Europe’s leading events destination. One of our key objectives is to continue to develop and build an industry leading management and James’s promotion is a significant step towards helping to achieve this.”
Rees, who was appointed to the ICCA Board of Directors in October, said he was delighted to be promoted to Excel’s Executive. “The opening of our International Convention Centre in 2010 has resulted in huge growth in our conference and events business and I am looking forward to working with my fellow directors to firmly establish Excel as Europe’s venue of choice for major conventions.”
