The Hotel Booking Agents Association (HBAA) hosted its annual social event at City of London venue The Brewery on Friday 11 January 2013. Bringing together over 350 agents, hoteliers and venues, the dinner provided the platform for 2013 Chairman for the Association, Chris Parnham, to share his vision and goals for the coming year.
The dinner, an annual highlight of the HBAA’s calendar of events and a firm favourite for the association’s membership, saw 2012 Chairman Chris Peacock welcome Chris Parnham, MD of Operations of venue finding and events agency Zibrant, to his new role.
Chris also outlined his plans for the ‘Chairman’s Charity’, whereby HBAA fundraising profits are donated directly to a charity of the Chairman’s choice. Throughout his tenure, the Chairman’s Charity will be the Make a Difference Trust.
The Annual Dinner also marked the final official engagement on behalf of the HBAA for the Association’s Executive Director, Peter Ducker. Peter will now assume his new position as Chief Executive of the Institute of Hospitality. Juliet Price, Director of Polygon Consulting and 2011 Chairman of the HBAA, has been appointed in an interim role to ensure the continuity of service levels and carry out some of the strategic responsibilities of the Executive Director.
The HBAA represents the interests of parties involved in the procurement and management of conferences, meetings and accommodation in the UK and internationally. It has an annual buying power in excess of £2.3bn per annum.
