MWB Group CEO resigns

Richard Balfour-Lynn has resigned as Chief Executive and Director of MWB Group Holdings effective 31 March 2012.
He co-founded MWB, which is the parent company of MWB Business Exchange, the Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, in 1994. In September 2011 Balfour-Lynn stepped down as Chief Executive of the De Vere Group but remained involved in the De Vere Academy of Hospitality.
Balfour-Lynn created the De Vere Group with Chief Financial Officer, Jag Singh, by acquiring Initial Style Conferences in December 2005 and taking over De Vere Hotels in 2006.
“This has been a hard decision for me as I have been with MWB Group most of my working life,” Balfour-Lynn said. “I will remain a committed and supportive shareholder and have every confidence in both the board of MWB Group and the management teams to take the group to the next stage of its development.”
Chairman Eric Sanderson said: “Richard is an exceptional entrepreneur who has built up a major hotel and business services group. He has always been passionate about developing great hospitality in the business. We would like to thank him for his drive and enthusiasm in building some exceptional brands.”
