Juliet Price, past Chair of the Hotel Booking Agents Association, handed over a cheque for £26,949 to the WheelPower charity at the HBAA’s stand at International Confex last week.
WheelPower was the nominated ‘Chair’s Charity’ for the duration of Price’s tenure as HBAA Chair in 2011.
Funds were raised throughout the association’s calendar of events, from the Annual Dinner to the HBAA Forum; and Price also took on personal sporting challenges including the 10-mile Bupa Great South Run last October.
WheelPower is a national charity for wheelchair sport which provides opportunities, facilities and equipment for thousands of children and young adults with disabilities to participate in recreational and competitive wheelchair sport and improve their quality of life by enjoying healthy active lives.
Martin McElhatton from the Wheelpower charity said: “We were delighted to be chosen by Juliet as the HBAA’s charity of the year for 2011. They have raised a fantastic amount for WheelPower which will go towards providing opportunities for disabled children and adults to take part in wheelchair sport. We would like to thank everyone involved for all their hard work throughout the year.”
