Living Wall for The Mermaid

Mayor
Boris Johnson announced last week as part of his cleaner air
initiatives for London that a green ‘Living Wall’ is to be installed at The Mermaid Conference and Events Centre, subject to planning permission.

The
centre sits on one of London’s busiest and most heavily polluted roads
and the thinking is for the green wall to not simply provide a visual
attraction, but to trap pollutants.

“Our
directors have worked incredibly hard with Transport for London to come
to this solution and, while it is still subject to planning permission,
I am delighted at the outcome, and this will only enhance our green
credentials,” says the Mermaid’s Head of PR Carol Anderson.

The
Mermaid, formerly known as the Mermaid Theatre, is an independently
owned venue on the north bank of the Thames adjacent to Blackfriars
Station. It can seat up to 600 delegates in its main auditorium.
