Intercontinental Hotel Group’s (IHG) managed estate has announced 14 of its UK Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza sites have achieved AIM accreditation and joined the Meetings Industry Association (MIA).
The properties include the Crowne Plaza NEC Birmingham and Holiday Inn London Regents Park.
The brand has also revealed a new ambition to establish itself as a market leader within the meetings and events sector.
AIM is currently the industry’s only accreditation scheme and acts as a quality mark for meetings and events bookers.
The 14 IHG hotels achieved an average pass rate of 93 per cent, compared to the AIM prerequisite of 65 per cent.
IHG’s David Taylor, former Sales Director with QHotels, is now spearheading the Meetings and Events division for IHG’s UK&I Managed Estate and said: “Joining MIA and receiving AIM accreditation reflects a much wider ambition to become the market leader within the meetings and events sector, and is recognition of our effort and investment into this area of our business over the last year. Our aspiration is to achieve this quality mark for the whole estate, which I am fully confident we will deliver.”
He added: “We have focussed heavily on listening to the market and understanding our customer’s needs, and through our recent customer engagement survey have developed a core framework which enables us to create a more compelling offer that will see our hotels recognised as major players within the market.”
IHG has invested £4m in Kensington Forum’s meetings and events.
Robert Alley, Meetings and Events Director for the UK&I Managed Estate added that IHG had also recently invested £1m in training and staff development.
