HSBC’s former Chief Economist Dennis Turner to open Summer Eventia

Event industry association Eventia has announced HSBC’s former Chief Economist, Dennis Turner, will open the Summer Eventia conference, to be held this year 23 April at King’s Place in London.

Turner is a veteran of the speaking circuit and has electrified forums for Grass Roots in the past, being rebooked by popular demand.

Turner, who has been advising lending bankers on UK economic trends, is a regular contributor to a number of professional journals, and will provide Summer Eventia with a detailed look at the economic landscape and how it’s impacting upon events and business tourism.

Turner joined Midland Bank in 1978, before going to work in Whitehall for the National Economic Development Office.

The Turner keynote will kick-start the two-day Summer Eventia Conference.

Simon Hughes, responsible for designing the 2012 conference said: “We passed on having an economic outlook keynote in Cardiff last year, but the feedback from our members certainly indicated that there was a real appetite out there for some insightful and expert economic advice as we face another challenging year.

“I’m delighted that Dennis will be providing the context for some of the really interesting themes and issues that we’ve been gathering through our membership surveys for debate and discussion at TSE12.”
