EventMobi launches game app to ‘educate and engage delegates’

Smartphone app developer EventMobi has launched its GamifyApp into the market.
It claims the app is the “world’s first smartphone-based platform designed for event professionals that challenges that notion by injecting entertainment and healthy competition into the event”.
The app allows event planners to build and customise games to enhance the overall attendee experience and solve the common problems they are typically faced with such as engaging attendees at educational sessions or compelling attendees to walk the tradeshow floor and interact with sponsors.
The GamifyApp integrates game-mechanics into all aspects of the event experience: education, teambuilding, as well as networking by encouraging attendees to use their smartphone or tablet device to complete quizes, solve challenges and perform tasks.
Event attendees can also use their device to check-in to a location by typing a pass-code or scanning a QR Code from a plaque or poster posted around the event premise. When actions are performed, attendees are rewarded with points and virtual badges, which they can use to redeem prizes at the event. They can also see their progress and ranking on the app’s leader board.
“Inthis technology-obsessed culture where a smartphone is essentially an extension of oneself and, the GamifyApp is the key to engaging delegates,” says President of EventMobi, Bob Vaez. “Asking people to put down their phone is futile. Instead, we’ve designed a game with the phone or tablet device at the centre. And there’s nothing like a good competition to get people engaged.”
Brands and associations such as Disney, Crocs and Healthcare Information and Management Systems (HIMSS) have used the app at their events.
Purchased on its own, the GamifyApp costs $2,500, but it can also be combined with EventMobi’s mobile event packages – allowing for easy integration with sessions or exhibitor information – which range from $799 to $4,999.
