ACC Liverpool showcase comes to Chelsea

Chelsea College of Art and Design on London’s Millbank hosted the sixth annual Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) Liverpool showcase, last night (22 November), with 17 venues joining the party for clients, partners and city ambassadors.

ACC Liverpool CEO Bob Prattey said the recent Labour Party conference was the signal event of a successful fourth year and looked forward to Paul McCartney ending his world tour at the venue in his home town at the end of the year.

Prattey updated also on the new timetable for building the £40m Exhibition Centre adjacent to the existing ACC Liverpool complex. The Exhibition Centre is to provide a 8,100sqm hall sub-divisible into three sections, each of 2,700sqm.There will be meeting rooms on the upper level of the glass frontage.

“The money is in place and the design team on board. Tender contracts go out in February 2012 and we hope to break ground in July 2013, with an opening for business in September 2014.”
Sales Director Kerrin MacPhie told guests that Liverpool was a city on the up, have been voted ‘Friendlest City’ by Conde Nast.

“2012 had been a fantastic year despite the recession with 160 events and 500,000visitors across the organisation,” said MacPhie who admitted the Labour conference had been “the most challenging” at the venue to date.

The event saw ACC Liverpool launch its new Delegate Card to the industry. The Delegate Card will be given to every delegate attending a conference at ACC Liverpool and contains offers, discounts and privileges across a range of bars, restaurants, hotels and attractions throughout the city centre.
Entertainment was provided by local singer Jade Gallagher and many guests went home with prizes sponsored by the venue partners and Liverpool Convention Bureau.

Kellie Franklin, Project Manager at NHS Confederation, said of the showcase: “The team at ACC Liverpool always manages to find unique venues in London for their annual event and they never fail to give a real flavour of what Liverpool has to offer. It’s a great networking opportunity and definitely worth attending from a client perspective.”
