Delegates Boost Brainpower at Norton Park

Hotel and conference venue Norton Park near Winchester has introduced a selection of ‘smart’ foods into its conference and daily menus.

Every month the chefs at Norton Park, part of the QHotels group, will devise menus that offer a selection of nutritionally-balanced dishes incorporating key ‘smart’ food that experts believe can help boost your brain power.

Dishes include Rilette of Poached Salmon (an excellent source of omega 3, which is linked to improved cognition and alertness), a Squash and Spinach Risotto (high level of folic acid, which helps to maintain mental dexterity), Norton Apple and Rhubarb Crumble (a leading source of the antioxidant quercetin, which defends the brain cells from free radical attacks) and Green Tea, which contains polyphenois to help protect the brain from wear and tear.

New seasonal dishes will be added incorporating locally-sourced products where possible.

“We recognise that people’s concentration can falter and energy levels drop when they are in a focused ‘thinking’ environment, hence why we decided to incorporate so called ‘smart’ foods into all our menus,” GM of Norton Park, Michael Knox-Johnston, said. “Certain foods are believed to boost brain power and we indicate on our menus which dishes provide the key ingredients and what benefits could be gained.

“In addition, as part of our new ‘Total Meetings Package’ we offer all delegates healthy fruit smoothies or fruit skewers to kick start morning meetings and help keep energy levels high.”    

Norton Park has 16 conference rooms with meeting facilities for up to 340 delegates alongside a four-star 175-bedroom hotel with a spa.
