Serviced meeting space provider, MWB Meeting Venues, celebrated National Personal Assistant Day (15 September 2011) at Office exhibition at Earls Court.
MWB organised an Office flashmob as a unique tribute for the 10th anniversary of the influential sitcom The Office. The ‘flashdance’ was led by leading Ricky Gervais lookalike Tim Oliver and 15 dancers who danced to a version of David Brent’s famous grunt. The Office was first screened on BBC2 in July 2001 and soon became a nationwide hit running to 14 episodes, including two series and two Christmas specials.
Office is claims to be the UK’s biggest event for the PA and office manager community. Following the performance exhibition visitors were given the opportunity to participate in a competition to win £500 worth of Apple vouchers by giving their own ‘interpretation’ of Brent’s excruciating, yet highly-memorable, dance. MWB used the Office exhibition to launch a campaign to help PAs make their companies and themselves ‘look good.’
The Office has become a national treasure and did a lot to highlight the highs and lows of working in an office,” said MWB’s Marketing Director, Rob Strachan.
“We hope Ricky likes our tribute. It’s quite a surprisingly complicated dance routine but we think our flashmob team did it justice.”
