MPI UK and Ireland kicked off its new Chapter education programme with a Meetings Architecture Event at Wyndham Grand London Chelsea Harbour on 12 September.
The event was attended by representatives from the Royal Aeronautical Society, Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau, IMEX Group, Reed Exhibitions, Carlson Wagon Lit, Church House Conference Centre, Aberdeen Convention Bureau, Visit Manchester, Excel London and The Barbican.
“Our first event of the slate year has definitely set the benchmark for developing and sharing new and innovative content to facilitate success for our members,” said President MPI UK and Ireland chapter, Samme Allen. “We have responded to our member’s requests and the feedback definitely demonstrated this. More to follow.”
The Chapter discussed how to ensure meetings achievs core objectives and maximises ROI. Its aim was for attendees to learn the basic principles behind meeting design, understand the pools of knowledge from which it draws and experience a new format of knowledge and information exchange. Delegates debated how increasing ROI leads to conversations about increasing value, rather than decreasing costs and that success measurement leads to proof of worth for meeting planners.
Meeting Designer and VP Finance for MPI UK and Ireland, Rob Eveleigh, helped attendees learn the basic principles behind meeting design. Board members and directors of the Chapter also mixed with members to discuss membership issues in the association.
