Crowne Plaza launches first UK resort with space for 4,000 delegates

The UK’s first Crowne Plaza Resort has opened this month (August 2011), after a multi-million pound refurbishment of the Five Lakes Colchester hotel.
 
The four-star resort includes several meeting rooms and a banqueting and exhibition arena suitable for trade shows and events of up to 4,000 delegates.
 
Golfers will be able to choose between two 18-hole courses and the resort also has a spa, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and gym. It also includes 194 bedrooms overlooking the Essex countryside.
 
As well as complete refurbishment of all bedrooms, the resort has added two restaurants and a contemporary cocktail bar, Bar Lacu.
 
Five Lakes, owned by AB Hotels and managed by BDL Management, was selected by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) for its location to nearby London airports.
 
Crowne Plaza hotels are in more than 50 countries around the world with 386 hotels and 105,829 rooms globally.
