Ocean Media’s new UK venue show to launch at Olympia

Ocean Media will launch a new venue show to run alongside the Event Production Show in 2012.

The UK Venue Show will run in London Olympia’s West Hall from 1 to 2 February 2012, just one month before International Confex takes place for the first time at Excel London

Event Director Tanya Cohen said the co-located event will have its own identity but that the two shows will be accessible via the same entrance.

“Running alongside the Event Production Show, staying in central London and capitalising on the increasing  strength of the UK domestic market means we have an excellent USP; quite simply to give people exactly what they want and have been asking for,” said Cohen.

“We anticipate over 250 exhibitors and 5,000 visitors over two days in year one, with lots of exciting plans still to be announced.”

“With the demise of Event UK and Confex moving to Excel, there is an opportunity and need for something back in the west of London and in the heart of where venues and shows are,” she added, acknowledging the UK Venue Show launch could be seen as competitive to Confex but pointing to its specific, core focus on UK venues.

One Early Bird confirmed exhibitor, Kevin Leaver from Millbrook Events, said: “We feel that the UK Venue Show fills a gap in the market, left by the loss of some exhibitions and significant changes to others. We are really looking forward to working with Ocean Media on this exciting new event and believe that this show will offer us a significant ROI.”

Other confirmed exhibitors are Church House Conference Centre and the Association of Event Venues.  Chris Skeith, Director at AEV added: “We are encouraged by the launch of the UK Venue Show, and are looking forward to working with the organisers to support the event.”

“Our offering does present a different opportunity [to Confex], but it will be the events sector that will be choosing the show that’s right for them,” Cohen said.

Ocean will launch a hosted buyers programme to bring suitable visitors and exhibitors together at both shows. Combined, the organiser expects to attract 250 exhibitors and 5,000 visitors over the two days.

Longer term, Cohen sees an opportunity for additional spin-off exhibitions and complementary products to sit alongside its expanding Event Production Show offering.
