Manchester Central invests £350k in digital technology

Following a strategic review of its technological infrastructure, Manchester Central today, 28 July, announced that it has signed a new three-year contract with audiovisual specialists, Blitz Communications, as its preferred AV supplier.
Lesley Tomlinson, Chief Executive of Manchester Central, said: “We believe that Blitz is the perfect partner to deliver the highest quality AV offering to our broad customer base.”
Munir Samji, Chairman and Chief Executive of Blitz Communications, said: “Manchester Central is one of the UK’s leading convention complexes and it continues to be at the forefront of the industry, striving to provide the best services for its clients. We are thrilled to continue as Manchester Central’s AV partner, and look forward to another three years at the venue.”
Manchester Central has also revealed it plans to invest £350,000 in digital signage throughout the complex.
The 33 new digital screens will improve way-finding both externally and internally, and real time conferencing updates will be available, reducing wasteful physical signage and delegate programmes.
A digital traffic light system will also be available for seminars and breakout sessions, meaning delegates can be warned in advance as conference sessions begin to reach capacity. The venue claims the investment will mean it will have the most extensive digital network of any comparable venue in the UK.
Manchester Central’s digital technology will be available from September 2011.
