Europe’s largest open age soccer
tournament, the Keele International Cup, returns for a second year to Keele
University later this month, with teams from across the UK and Europe
Competition and a range of events will take
place across eight days, and involve 3,000 participants staying on campus. A schedule of excursions includes stadium
tours and coaching sessions at nearby premier league football clubs, and visits
to Alton Towers.
Sam Rooney, Head of Keele Conferences and
Events, said: “We are delighted that the Keele International Cup has chosen to
return to us. It is a great event, one that attracts many different
people and really utilises the facilities we have here. This will span not only the outdoor sports
facilities, but also our conference space for events such as the opening ceremony,
presentations as well as dining for the participants in Keele Hall every
The event is the second major football
tournament that has been hosted by Keele Conferences and Events in the past six
months. It follows PRO FC which took place in April, the brainchild of Notts
County Manager Martin Allen and current Blackpool striker DJ Campbell.
Keele Conferences launched an off-campus
service for organisers in May
designed to provide event support and management to its clients, as their
annual conferences and events travel around the country.
