Five in focus

Navaho Technologies

Navaho produces a number of digital signage products, including the MediaCAT which is a flexible digital signage player that can be used for electronic notice boards, dynamic signage advertising and digital information displays. The company recently used the product to power information screens throughout Earls Court for International Confex in March. The product was a replacement for the traditional ‘you are here’ boards and the large screens that welcomed visitors and exhibitors, as well as offering important information in relation to the show, from its floorplan and exhibitor listing to live announcements of allseminars and other activities over the course of the three-day event.

Show Gizmo

ShowGizmo combines web and smartphone technology to create events and is available for event producers and organisers who pay an annual licence to use it. It enables event organisers, sponsors and exhibitors and visitors to access and manageinformation for trade shows, conferences and other events and better connect with each other using the wide range of functions to achieve better results and improve their return on investment, including analytics and reports. The app can be used once or many times as attendees and exhibitors can store their profiles and reuse them at the next event they attend that is powered by Show Gizmo.

Established in 1985, Identilam writes software that serves the corporate ID card and conference and event badging sectors. Its products include anything from online badging services and media accreditation to lanyards. Identilam has worked with many big names including the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club at Wimbledon and Thames Water. The company recently worked with the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism which had searched worldwide for a system that would enable flexibility in card format and design while enabling all attendees at its events to be electronically recorded. Identilam also provided 2,000 badges for the Russian Economic Forum pre-event and onsite.

IML produces a number of audience response systems and voting systems. Audienceresponse systems aid audience participation by allowing audience members to use a handheld device, whether a wireless keypad or a wireless handset microphone, to communicate with the presenter and fellow audience members. This communication can come in various shapes and forms. Interactive voting systems are one example of how an audience can communicate its opinion to the host of the event. Interactive voting systems are used when audiences need to vote on a particular issue while maintaining anonymity. They also make it easy to administrate the voting process. The company also provides text messaging services, question-and-answer session devices and software for post-event feedback to evaluate and compare.
