Business Travel Market builds on pre-arranged meetings programme

The
organiser of the Business Travel Market (BTM) exhibition has claimed
its pre-arranged buyers meeting programme was a main contributor to its
year-on-year growth.

The third annual exhibition and conference
was held at Excel London from 22-23 June and attracted 300 hosted VIP
buyers from 20 countries across Europe, a 20 per cent year-on-year
increase. The organiser said more than 2,000 pre-arranged meetings took
place between exhibitors and hosted buyers during the 2011 show. There
were 150 exhibitors this year, up from 100 in 2010.

“We’re
thrilled with how the event went this year,” event director Paul Robin
said. “As anticipated, 2011 was bigger and better than before and we’ve
already had a great deal of interest from past exhibitors and new
big-name companies who are keen to sign up for next year.

“We
know the exhibitors are receiving a return on investment from the pre-arranged meetings
with the VIP hosted buyers, which certainly gives a business case for
them to return year after year.”

The highlight of this year’s seminar programme was keynote speaker LOCOG CEO Paul Deighton, who discussed progress in preparation for London 2012.
