The Nottingham Belfry, one of QHotels 21 hotels across the UK, claims to be among the first hotels in the UK to provide an electric car charging station.
The station enables owners of Tesla electric cars to charge their vehicles at The Nottingham Belfry for between one to three hours.
The hotel’s ‘Electric Car Package’ gives owners use of a hotel room for up to four hours to freshen-up, light refreshments and free internet access while their car is charging. For those looking to break their journey for longer, overnight packages also are available.
Darren Hayward, The Nottingham Belfry new GM, said: “Our position of being just one mile away from the M1 means that we are an ideal location for Tesla car drivers to pull in and charge their cars. One owner, who regularly drives between London and Scotland, has already come in and used the facilities, and we hope to encourage many more.
“The whole team here are passionate about saving energy and helping to make our operations as environmentally friendly as possible.”
The Nottingham Belfry was recently awarded a Silver accreditation within the Green Tourism Business Scheme and now hosts one of only ten charging units required for a Tesla automobile to travel anywhere in the UK.
QHotels’ Ashford International Hotel, Kent, is also set to install a Tesla car charging station later this month.
