London & Partners to launch Scratch and Sniff guide at AIBTM

Citywide tourism agency, London & Partners, is producing a sensory ‘Scratch and Sniff’ mini-guide to the city for Reed Travel Exhibitions’ inaugural North American trade show, AIBTM in Baltimore on 22 and 23 June 2011.

The agency says the aromatic guide is aimed at getting the American audience “to scratch the surface of London” to discover a host of smells and facts connected with activity taking place over the coming year.

It will include information such as:

  • Over Wimbledon tennis fortnight, 23 tonnes of strawberries and cream are served. The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club is one of the official 2012 Olympic venues
  • The first fish and chips supper is mentioned in Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist. 2012 is ’Dickens Year’ in the UK capital with many events taking place.

“We wanted to create a fun sensory guide, which will highlight all the events happening in 2012, from the 200-year anniversary of Charles Dickens, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in June and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” says Sales and Marketing Director for North America and Emerging Markets at London & Partners, Chris FJ Lynn.
