AECC gets two new non-executive board members

Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC), has appointed Geoff Runcie and Elaine Hulse as new non-executive board members.
Runcie is the past CEO of Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce and currently a business consultant, while Hulse is Exhibition Director of Offshore Europe, with Reed Exhibitions. She has worked extensively with the oil and gas industry in exhibition and conference management.
Ed Gillespie, AECC’s Chairman said: “We have successfully recruited two non-executive directors to join our board, to assist in driving the business forward. This is an exciting and challenging time to join the Board and contribute to the venue’s achievement of its objectives and to realise its full potential.”

It follows the venue’s call to find three non-executive board members in February. Gillespie said it is still searching for the third recruit.

Brian Horsburgh, AECC Managing Director added, “We are looking for
candidates with experience in the energy sector, conference, exhibition
or events industry, finance or academia. These new board members will
play a key role in ensuring that AECC has the resources to continue to
attract a wide range of high profile events visited by people from
around the world.”

Plans to restructure the board to increase private control of the AECC were announced last year.
