Sodexo to launch RHS Chelsea Flower Show App

Catering and hospitality provider Sodexo Prestige is set to launch an RHS Chelsea Flower Show augmented reality iPhone app on 16 May.

Designed by 360R for Sodexo Prestige, the app aims to help guests make the most of their day out at the 11-acre site at the Royal Hospital. Using the app, which is available from Apple’s iTunes Store, users can see the location, menus, opening times and booking details of cafés and restaurants at the London flower show from 24 to 28 May.

Visitors will also be able to navigate the site by superimposing points of interest onto the real world via the iPhone’s camera screen.

“Augmented Reality helps us provide our customers with a valuable tool for negotiating the green expanse of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show,” Sodexo Prestige’s Head of Online, Andrew Nicholson said. “iPhone users are able to pin-point hospitality areas, restaurants and facilities within the show to within a metre and are provided with clear navigation superimposed onto their camera screens.

“Downloading the app will be as simple as taking a picture, through our use of Quick Response [QR] codes atstrategic locations on-site. We have done everything we can to help our guests make the most of their time at Chelsea, so that they can focus on having a wonderful day out.”
