Crystal Interactive brings US audience response system to UK

UK audience engagement specialist Crystal Interactive is partnering with California-based communication technology provider VisionTree Software to bring a new audience response system for conference delegates to Europe.
Crystal Mobile works on any web-enabled device (smartphone, PDA or laptop) and enables delegates to submit questions for speakers, participate in multiple-choice voting, and complete surveys and evaluations at any time during an event.
The hand-held audience response system allows delegates to go beyond the standard Yes/No or 1-5 ranking response: they can input using free-text, sliding scales or check boxes. It also enables them to see their questions or responses displayed on the device’s screen.
The system also allows a large amount of conference information to be accessed via the mobile device.
Crystal Interactive MD Chris Elmitt, Managing Director said: “This is the next step towards paperless meetings. Agendas, speaker biographies and conference news updates can all be transmitted via Crystal Mobile.  Organisers can capture real-time feedback, measure learnings and document results.  The software even permits on-screen event branding.”
The technology behind Crystal Mobile is new to the UK market but has been tested in the US by VisionTree.
“While use of mobile phones is not new in the events marketplace,” Elmitt added, “other solutions have been designed to primarily facilitate delegate networking. Designed originally with exhibition visitors in mind, they are used as an application-based optional extra. Crystal’s priorities have been to enhance audience engagement while maximising the amount of meeting information that can be accessed from a smartphone. We see this is the next step in meetings evolution and many thousands of delegates have already been using the technology successfully in the US.”
Crystal Mobile enables delegates to either use their own smartphones or PDA devices supplied by Crystal Interactive.
VisionTree Software initially developed this technology in the USA as a healthcare solution, creating a patient-centric form of data exchange.
Crystal Mobile is the latest addition to the suite of collaborative and interactive feedback systems provided by Crystal Interactive that includes wireless laptop ‘Tablets’ and keypad response devices.
