For the year ending 31 March, profits at BT rose 71 percent to £1.7bn as sales rose four per cent to £20bn. BT’s management yesterday rattled through these figures and its full new set of results during a media conference call.
BT Conferencing currently markets its ‘Meet Me’ conference call product on its website thus: “Up to 20 people can take part in a conference call simply by dialling into a meeting room number’”.
Unfortunately, the media invited to dial in on 12 May were left hanging for 10 minutes listening to canned music. Apparently, the operator hadn’t connected the call properly, says The Times City Diary man.
CEO of hotel, travel and event management services group Expotel Ian Burnley recently claimed his company’s research showed a ‘kindergarten mentality’ of participants caused 75 per cent of conference calls to fail, with bullying, lack of attention, temper tantrums and shyness the key examples of dysfunctional behaviour.
