Dundee to be put under investigators’ meetings microscope

Members of police forces from around the
world, forensic psychologists and investigators will gather in Dundee, 1-3 June
2011 for the 4th International Investigative Interviewing Research Group (iIIRG
2011) Conference.

Organisers are expecting 150 international
delegates to The University of Abertay Dundee venue.

The theme for the iIIRG 2011 Conference is
‘Research and Specialist Interviews’ and Saul Kassin, Professor of Psychology
at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, New York, will deliver the
keynote. Dr Kassin has undertaken pioneering work on false confessions.

“False confessions can be found throughout
human history, and not only in the criminal justice system but in corporate and
military intelligence settings,” said Dr Kassin.

Karen Tocher, Business Tourism Manager at Dundee and Angus Convention Bureau, said the iIIRG event provided an opportunity to showcase the area. “We hope
those visiting Dundee for the first time will be inspired by the city and
decide to return to further explore it and the surrounding areas,” said Tocher.
