London Mayor Boris Johnson today officially launched London and Partners, the city’s new promotional body.
London and Partners brings together the responsibilities of several
agencies, namely Visit London, Think London and Study London, previously
responsible for bringing tourism, investment and international students
The new organisation will promote both leisure and business tourism,
foreign investment and business growth as well as attracting major
events, conferences, exhibitions and international students.
The drive to raise London’s profile comes as the city prepares for the
Royal Wedding, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Olympics.
The board, headed by interim chair Dame Judith Mayhew Jonas, includes Excel CEO Kevin Murphy.
“Excel is part of the vision we have for the Royal Docks,” Johnson told
CN, “and we hope to make it more successful than it already is.”
The Royal Docks were given enterprise zone status earlier this week,
with chancellor George Osborne’s announcement of the new Budget.
Companies bringing business to enterprise zones will discounts and
simplified planning processes.
