Meet Birmingham and Marketing Birmingham, the marketing body for the city’s convention bureau, claims it saw a 100 per cent increase in specific sales leads at meetings and events industry trade show International Confex, 1-3 March 2011, compared to when it exhibited at the 2010 show.
The convention bureau says it also experienced a 21 per cent rise in visitors to the stand. “There seems to be a real buzz about the UK at the moment with major global events such as the Royal Wedding and the Olympics which are having a halo effect on the UK as a whole, not just the capital,” Commercial Director of Marketing Birmingham, Ian Taylor said. “We were impressed not only by the quantity of enquiries at our Confex stand, but also the genuine calibre of our leads.”
The convention bureau also hosted delegates from VisitBritain’s biennial Discovery 2011 showcase event, the international meetings and incentive event which partnered with International Confex, attracting buyers from 30 countries.
This year’s Confex also saw the official launch of Meet Birmingham’s 2011 Conference Guide.
