Eventia to run its own Awards after split with Haymarket

Eventia and Haymarket Media have broken their
Eventia Awards partnership of 13 years. Eventia released a statement today
saying that the termination of the agreement with Haymarket Media “offers the
opportunity for other media to support the awards”.

Eventia said its Awards “exist to reward and recognise excellence in the events industry
and specifically the projects that are developed and organised by event
professionals”.

The association plans to hold its 2011 Awards
event in November 2011, venue and date to be
confirmed.

Eventia Chairman Mark Saxby said: “Now is the
time to move on. These are the Eventia Awards, so it is only right that we run
them. I would also add that, speaking as a member, they are the one’s to win.
Eventia now has the opportunity to talk to a number of potential media partners
and I am delighted to say that this process has already
begun.”

Eventia said it wished to ensure that the
event truly recognised the spirit of the industry and its board has asked for
feedback from members in shaping the event moving forward.

Haymarket Awards Director Helen Horton said the decision to end
the partnership allowed it “the opportunity to explore new ideas and to create
an exciting opportunity to celebrate excellence in its sector with no
constraints”.

Eventia had earlier this week emailed its
members, advising them that Haymarket was to launch another awards dinner in
competition.
