Confex’s Sullens expects attendance fall due to student policy

UBM Live Confex Portfolio Director Jonny Sullens has attributed a slight drop in visitor attendance at this year’s event to the organiser’s newly-introduced student policy.

“We qualified 253 students to attend the show on the last day and have not done this previously,” he told Conference News. “However, we have not received any official figures for total show visitors.”

Sullens pointed out the success of this year’s key attractions, such as the floating bar marina and seminars, on social media and technology.

“We look forward to investing in the show as we move to Excel London next year,” he added.

Speaking on recent industry news on VisitBritain has been subjected to budget cuts and its business tourism team is at risk of being wound up, Sullens said it would be a “blow for the industry”.
