Buyer sought for Banks’s Stadium

An investor is sought for the Banks’s Stadium, home of Walsall Football Club.

Global real estate services firm, DTZ is to secure a purchaser for the freehold interest in the stadium. The stadium, with a capacity of 11,000, sits on a 17-acre site and includes conferencing facilities, The Saddlers Supporter’s Club and an all weather training facility.

Banks’s Stadium is currently let to Walsall FC for 17 years with options to extend on an annual RPI linked rental lease, with rental income from the League One club and three telecoms masts totalling £466,752 per annum.

DTZ’s Senior Director Nick Allan said: “This is a unique opportunity to acquire the freehold interest in the home of Walsall Football Club, as well as a highly prominent landmark investment fronting the M6 motorway. Walsall FC has a long and proud history on and off the pitch and in recent years has prided itself in developing commercial income, in particular its advertising and conferencing and events business.”

A freehold sale of the Banks’s Stadium site will only see a change in the ownership of the freehold interest and will have no implications on the ownership or operation of the football club.
