Eventia kicks off masterclass series at International Confex

UK
events industry association, Eventia
,
is set to run a series
of masterclasses at industry tradeshows in Europe throughout 2011.

The association says the
classes are designed to educate senior meetings and events professionals from
companies, agencies, associations and the public sector on using digital
platforms to create more effective events.

The first of such
classes will be held at UBM Live’s International Confex at Earls Court
London on 1 March 2011. Its
presenters will include the Global Strategic
Director
at Active Network
Events, Anthony Miller and Director of Live Events at the UK
Government’s Central Office of Information
(COI), Simon Hughes. The pair will also present to IMEX visitors in Frankfurt in May.

“This is more than just
a seminar; it’s a survival kit for meetings and events professionals who
increasingly have to prove the business case for the events they plan and
organise,” said Miller.

The seminar will set out
how social and digital media can be used to extend both the reach
and lifecycle of an event, and increase interaction and engagement with delegates to boost return on
investment.

“The challenge to
organisers is to step away from just thinking about the live experience and
focus more strategically on how to maximise engagement with the audience in question, using
all the tools currently available,” said Hughes.

Miller
believes that only by effectively harnessing the power of social and digital
media in the meetings and events they organise can
industry professionals deliver real value for their companies or clients, and
their delegates.
