BBC Worldwide to move its Showcase from Brighton to Liverpool

BBC Showcase
UK, BBC Worldwide’s annual television
programme export event, which generates up to £50m of programme exports each
year, is to move to ACC Liverpool in 2012.

The four-day
event brings together over 500 of the world’s biggest network buyers and
provides them an opportunity to purchase the latest BBC Worldwide content. 

The BBC says the
move to ACC Liverpool followed a detailed bidding process, initiated in response
to pressure in recent years for BBC Showcase to grow in size. The event is now
in its 35th year and has been held in Brighton
for much of this time.

BBC Worldwide
will build delegates individual digitised viewing booths, enabling them to view
over 1,000 hours of content. The day and night schedules will include producer
pitches, co-production forums, screenings and stylish launch

ACC Liverpool
CEO Bob Prattey said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as the new home of
BBC Showcase UK and are proud to be hosting this
prestigious media event in 2012 and beyond. This is a very high profile date in
