W London Leicester Square Hotel up for sale ahead of opening

The owners of the
W London development, McAleer and Rushe, have
put the W London Leicester Square Hotel, attached apartment complex and M&M
World store up for sale, weeks before it was due to open.

Due for completion on 14
February 2011, the entire complex’s price tag is rumoured to be around the £200m
mark and includes the 192-bedroom Starwood
Hotels and Resorts’ building
. Russian and Middle Eastern buyers are
rumoured to be interested in acquiring the asset.

“In light of the current
strong demand for prime London property we have appointed Jones Lang
LaSalle to conduct a review of our best possible strategy,” said a spokesperson
for the owner. “But our priority is to ensure the successful completion of this
prestigious flagship project on time and on
budget.”

When open, the hotel will
include two 40sqm meetings rooms equipped with high-speed internet and a
screening room, which can be hired for private launches and events for up to 38
delegates.
