Clarion buys Avren telecoms event organiser

Clarion Events has acquired network
telecommunications event organiser Avren Events, bringing the company’s
portfolio of telecoms events to more than 20
worldwide.

UK-based Avren specialises in strategic
telecoms confexes for senior management, with a portfolio of events touching on subjects
like connected homes, timing for
telecoms, mobile devices, wireless infrastructure and next-generation mobile
networks. Its portfolio is roughly split three ways between Europe, North
America and Asia.

“Clarion’s investment boosts the existing Avren team’s capacity to
scale existing events and launch into new markets,” said Clarion CEO Simon
Kimble. “We allow our partners and brands across many market sectors and
localities to have maximum control, keeping them responsive to market
needs.”

As part of the transition, previous marketing
director for Avren, Carole Mayhew, has been appointed as
MD.

Clarion is currently in talks to hold events
at Manchester’s new EventCity venue.
