Association conference wins for Visit Manchester

Visit Manchester has secured two
association conferences for the city for 2011.

First to take place is the annual conference of the
Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO), which takes
place between 19 and 21 January.

The following day, 22 January, the UK and
Ireland Chapter of the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) association
begins its annual board meeting,
which runs until 24 January.

Together, these events are expected to bring over 100
UK conference organisers to the
city.

The ABPCO conference will take place at venues across
the city, including: Manchester United, the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI), Manchester
Cathedral, the Renaissance and Jury’s hotels. The MPI meeting will take place at Mint Hotel (formally City
Inn) in the Piccadilly Garden District and The Lowry Hotel.

Visit Manchester’s Head of Business Tourism, Steven
Small, says: “ABPCO and MPI are two of the biggest names in the conference industry. Bringing them to
Manchester and
showcasing the city’s business tourism credentials is a massive opportunity to
influence some of the sector’s key
decision makers.”
