MP for Skipton and Ripon, Julian Smith, helped secure a big regional
government conference for his
constituency. Hi Speed Broadband for Rural Areas will take place at Ripon
Racecourse in the New Year and local event management agency Livius Events, based at the course, will
organise the event.
Venue MD Andrew Wells had invited his MP to visit the
Ripon Racecourse venue, prompted by the Meetings Industry Association’s
Constituency Day initiative during National Meetings Week in October.
The initiative called on all AIM-accredited businesses
to invite their local MPs and local councillors to visit their venue to see
first-hand the difference the AIM quality standard makes to businesses and the

on 19 February 2011, to attract 150 delegates. “North
Yorkshire was one of four areas highlighted by George Osbourne in
his recent spending review as a ‘Pilot’ area for developing high-speed
broadband,” he said.
