University of Exeter’s commercial arm scoops gold award

Event Exeter, the corporate division of the University of Exeter, has scooped the gold award for
Business Tourism at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards
2010.

The university venue saw
off competition from hotels and conference centres at the award ceremony, which
was sponsored by the Met Office. The venue was recognised for its
customer service, sustainability and
accessibility.

“We’re delighted to see
university venues being recognised when it comes to destinations of
choice for business tourism,” said Event Exeter’s head of sales and marketing,
Sarah Snow. “After winning silver last year, our team raised the bar and this
year’s gold reflects their hard work.”

Event Exeter is set up for a
wide range of meeting and conference
needs and the income raised through
these activities goes back into the university to support its research and
teaching. It now goes through to the National Enjoy England Awards for
Excellence 2011 finals in the spring.
