Beardmore sous chef wins CCE Chefs’ Challenge

Some of the most highly-regarded chefs in the
conference sector served up their best at the 2010 Chefs’ Challenge culinary
competition, organised
jointly by the Conference Centres of Excellence (CCE) and the International
Association of Conference Centres (IACC).

Warwick Conferences’s Scarman training and
conference centre hosted the competition, providing on-site accommodation for
competitors, sponsors and other guests.

“Without the all-round contribution of
Scarman, the Challenge would face great difficulty in achieving the standards of
prestige and organisation that underpin its success,” said CCE Executive
Director Anthony Lishman.

Finalists were selected on the basis of
written menus and then competed against the clock in a cook-off at nearby
Stratford-upon-Avon College.

Martin Thliveros, sous chef at The Beardmore
Conference Centre in Clydebank near Glasgow, was judged the overall winner and
presented with his trophy by CCE Chairman Richard Harrison, who said of
Thliveros’ creation: “It was a perfect illustration of the standards of cuisine
that are now available at leading conference
venues.”
