Visit Manchester appoints new head of business tourism

Visit Manchester, the tourist board for the
Manchester city
region, has appointed a new head of business
tourism.

In his new role, Steven Small heads up a team of 12 and
takes responsibility for Visit Manchester’s contribution to the city’s
£573m-a-year business tourism industry. 

During his career, Small, has gained experience of both
the public and private sector, having previously held posts with Ernst and Young
and the Northwest Regional Development Agency.

Visit Manchester’s MD Paul Simpson says: “Steven’s
background in dealing with corporate clients to influence investment decisions,
develop business plans and access public funding will be a great asset to the
business tourism team. He has an in-depth knowledge of the workings of the
Manchester
city-region and the importance of the visitor
economy.”

 Small replaces Catherine Walker, who had been head of
business tourism at Visit Manchester for four years.
