Confex, Ideal Home Show to share Earls Court pool

Organisers of International Confex and the
Ideal Home Show (IHS) have struck a
deal to share the use of _Earls Court’s built-in swimming
pool.

Ideal Home Show organiser Media 10 used the pool for an
indoor marina and floating café feature in 2010. For the 2011 show, however, the
time taken to lower the floor of the
pool and fill it with water would conflict with International Confex, organised
by UBM. In order to keep the pool feature, Media 10 will prepare it in
time for it to be used for
Confex.

Media 10 MD Lee Newton said: “They get the
benefit of a nice feature. They saved cost because they don’t have to hire a
feature or restaurant and we saved cost because we can work
quicker.”

Show director for IHS, Giles Perry, said: “If
we weren’t able to do this, then we would surely have to consider not doing that
feature at all.”

Confex portfolio director Jonny Sullens said:
“We like Media 10 and they are a great organiser. There is a respect for them as
an organiser, but the long and the short of it is it will be great for
Confex.”

“It’s nothing we have considered before, but
it’s something that maybe we should
talk to other organisers about.”

The pool, built for the last
time the Olympics came to London, was slightly too long to be used for
the Games.
