Snooker tournament gives Bradford big break

Bradford has been chosen to host
the first ever World Seniors Snooker Championship this
November.

The tournament will take place at the Cedar Court Hotel and features nine snooker
players, seven of who
are former world champions. The event
is being organised by Bradford businessman Dave
Shipley and former snooker world
champion Joe Johnson.

“We’re going to make sure
this is a fun event that all the family can enjoy, but mark my words there’ll be
a few old rivalries resurfacing,” said Johnson. “I’m a Bradford boy and I’m really proud to be involved in
bringing this event to the city.”

Over 1,000 spectators are
expected to attend over and watch participants including Johnson himself, Steve
Davis, Jimmy White, Cliff Thorburn, Dennis Taylor, John Parrott, Ken Doherty,
Peter Ebdon and Nigel Bond.
