Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre wins four medical events

Four
medical conferences will bring a
total of 5,300 delegates to the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC)
between 2012 and 2014.

The
Society of Chiropodists Podiatrists Annual Professional Conference and
Exhibition will see the organisation’s centenary celebrations with 1,500
delegates in 2012, with The Royal College of General Practitioners Annual
Primary Care Conference also returning in two years.

In
2014, the SECC will host 1,500 specialists at the European Congress of
Obstetrics and Gynaecology, having beaten the competition from Istanbul to bring the
event to Glasgow, and The Infection Prevention Society, which will attract 700
delegates.

“Our
team works hard to help attract national and international association business
to Scotland, and the ties with our
universities and the local scientific community, as well as the Glasgow City
Marketing Bureau (GCMB), that clinched these deals,” says SECC director of
sales, Ben Goedegebuure.

GCMB
CEO, Scott Taylor, adds: “Glasgow and Scotland are known for medical research and securing such well attended
conventions is a result of GCMB, SECC, hotels and academic partners working
together to achieve conference success.”
