MPI’s Young Achievers shine in Westminster

A team of events management students from the University of Westminster last night won MPI’s UK and Ireland Chapter’s inaugural Young Achievers Award 2010.

The ‘agency brief’ was to put together a mixed conference and incentive trip to Switzerland for a group of 100 corporate clients.

Four teams of students from the capital battled it out in front of a distinguished industry panel of judges and an invited audience at London’s Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre.

The winning team presented a pitch themed on Water, Earth, Fire and Air, which the judges described as a “terrific, exciting presentation, with good CSR and a real wow factor”.

All four groups were commended for their high level of expertise by sponsors, the Switzerland Convention and Incentives Bureau and MC for the evening, Planet Planit’s MD, Paul Cook.

The winners can look forward to an all-expenses paid, three-day trip to Switzerland in September.

“Tomorrow’s meetings industry is clearly in good hands,” said MPI Chapter president Anthony Hyde.

The winners received a cup and a certificate from music impresario and panel judge, Carl Leighton-Pope, who gave a talk on his 40-year career in the pop music business.
